On our honeymoon last year, we booked a Thai cooking class in Bangkok – we never expected it to be such a magical, informative and simply brilliant experience, we cannot wait to go back, and would recommend this to anyone!
The day starts early with collection from your hotel, and taking you to a pier by The Grand Palace, you then travel by boat along the Chao Phraya River, which lasts about 30 minutes, passing many poverty stricken areas, houses balancing on rotten wooden posts over the water, and more catfish than i have ever seen!
On arrival we were greeted by Tam, our host for the morning, a wonderfully kind lady, full of knowledge she was excited to pass over to us. We started with a cool drink, and refreshing towels and went straight into a tasting session with specially made gluten free tempura herbs freshly picked from her garden! It was the first time in over 2 years for me to have tempura, and it was fantastic! We then did a tour of the garden with all the herbs we would be using, so we could really understand our ingredients. It was then time to get started on the cooking classes, with 4 incredible (and easy) dishes that we learned. If you are ever in Bangkok, please do book in to one of Tams classes!
